A Slovakian correspondent writes:

Dear Tvindalert - to whom it may concern:

I have to inform you about Tvind´s activities in Slovakia (and possibly in the
Czech Republic, too.)

In spring this year, they had quite a massive advertising campaign in one of
our most read dailies - SME. As I planned to join them for quite a time
before that, it was not new to me, but it was this time, by chance, I really
went for an "information/preparation meeting" to Tvind, Denmark in
May. There were some things that surprised me or that I didn't like, but my
overall impression from the schools, from teachers, etc. was quite good. I
think that the good impression resulted from meeting so many really nice, young
people, eager to help the others - this was that strong that it
overweighed all the other impressions. We were also informed that there is
a group of "bad, evil people" in Scandinavia, who envy Humana, who are
"enemies", and they complain a lot, they even gave an impetus to
the police raids on Humana´s schools, and so on - quite an hour of
such brainwashing stuff. This hour was ended up by a very smart psychological
move - they wrote the www site of yours on the blackboard in a very large
font and invited us to visit it. I have to admit that these speeches were quite
successful - I absolutely didn´t think about not believing it. Out of
pure curiosity, I read the Tvindalert site just to see what these "evil
people wanting to hurt Humana" write in fact - and step-by-step, I
got an opposite impression about the organization. I could hardly believe it,
so I started to search the web thoroughly, and it lead to quite a number of
other sites that also supported your facts; there were sites in Spanish,
French, from the U.S.A. Then I decided to contact the SME daily to inform them
about what is beyond the advertising of this "humanitarian"
organization, and although it took some time (about 6 weeks), they reacted
eventually and published an article about it (July 2).

This is the link, but I am not sure whether it is possible for you to have it
translated, as it is, of course, in Slovak language:
http://www.sme.sk/clanok.asp?vyd=20010702&cl=74582

I wanted to contact you immediately afterwards, but I somehow forgot to do so
due to a lot of work in the days that followed. What upset me today - and
reminded me this affair, is the advertisement of Humana under a completely new
name, in the Czech daily "Mlada Fronta DNES" which has a similar
position in the Czech Republic as the SME daily in Slovakia.
(The issue of Mlada Fronta Dnes, November 22, the advertisements attachment
"Zamestnani - Employment")

In my opinion, Central and Eastern European countries provide quite a good base
for Tvind/Humana to recruit new volunteers. First, almost nothing is known
about the organization in these locations (even if you contact official
institutions, such as the Embassy of Denmark, etc.); there are not many people
here yet - former participants, who could warn the others. Secondly,
during my visit to Tvind, Denmark in May this year, I noticed that young people
from the CEE countries formed a majority of the participants, I would even say
- an overwhelming majority.

Therefore, I consider it important for you to also focus on this geographic
area as a potential high-risk sphere of Tvind´s interests. I don´t know what
can be done to stop them spreading here, I am thinking about contacting the
Mlada Fronta daily´s staff. If you have any other ideas, these would be more
than useful, I think.

Wishing you a lot of success in your effort to keep the people informed

(name omitted)

P.S. If you needed to publish or mention my name by any chance, please, contact
me prior to doing so

From the Internet:

My name is Jaroslav Dravecky. I was born in May 1976 in Spisska Stara Ves (Slovakia). My family lives in Poprad (Slovakia).
I used to attend the Technical Secondary School (SPS Strojnicka) in Poprad and then the University of Constantine the Philosopher (UKF) in Nitra (Slovakia). I studied the English Linguistics, Literature and Methodology of Teaching and graduated in 1998.
Then I went to Denmark and joined the Travelling Folk High School in Tvind near Ulfborg, wanted to became a voluntary worker in Zambia but after a month I left Denmark dissapointed because the humanitarian organisation (Humana - DAPP) turned out to be a cult using people.
