Today, although supposedly charitable in intent, Tvind is far from a straight forward charity. It has been described as a 'money machine', with a large cash flow directed through a bewildering variety of trusts, shell companies, Swiss banks and offshore accounts.
Tvind is one of the world's biggest commercial traders in used clothes, having almost entirely cornered the market with tens of thousands of 'charity' drop-in bins on the streets of world cities, for-profit trading companies, its own transport and shops.
