Quick tour - 3                                                     Amdi's secret life

When the the FBI caught up with him last February, Petersen had at his disposal a $6 million (3.6 million) luxury apartment off Miami, in an exclusive playboy's retreat called Fisher Island.     Not one, in fact - but two.

He also enjoyed the use of one of the world's most expensive ocean-going yachts, the $7.2 million (4.5 million) luxury Butterfly McQueen, moored nearby.

He is thought to have homes and hideaways in the Cayman Islands, Zimbabwe and Denmark, paid for by a bewildering network of offshore accounts and nominee companies.

He and his girlfriend, Kirsten Larsen,  had been on the run, in hiding and living incognito,  for 22 years.  When he first appeared in a Danish court last summer, it was the first fellow Danes had seen of him for nearly a quarter of a century.

Yet he still claims to be a philanthropist and a social revolutionary.
