This company is the latest Teachers Group's company in the UK. It was formed after Humana UK was closed down by the Charity Commission in 1997-8 and is a company, not a registered charity. It has several hundred used clothes recycling boxes in the Midlands, western and southern parts of England. Its directors include husband and wife team Torben and Birgit Soe, both Danish members of the Teachers Group. It is currently the subject of complaints to the Charity Commission because of the claims it makes to support the environment.
Unlike most other Tvind used clothes concerns, Green World raises money not 'for the poor in Africa' but 'for the environment' and gives it to the supposed 'Gaia-Movement Trust'. It is estimated to earn nearly 500,000 a year. But where does the money go? The 'charity' it supports is an accommodation address in Switzerland

Charity's
recycling claims mislead public from the Independent on Sunday,
London, 17th December 2000. By Michael Durham
Investigative article discovers links between Green World Recycling and the discredited Humana UK, a Tvind charity closed down in 1998. Although it claims to support 18 different environmental aims, the investigation did not find any evidence for environmental work or charity of any kind. The company is not a charity and money appeared to be passing between the UK and the Holland House company in Jersey, and to a mailbox in Switzerland that proved to be linked to Tvind in Amsterdam.
