Social work and training for Africa
- new programme at DRH Boserup!!

We would like to inform you about a new volunteer programme with:
* 6 months social work and studies in Denmark and
* 6 months work as a Development Instructor in
Africa.
The International Continuation School in Boserup is starting up the training of Development Instructors combining the studies with volunteer training and experiences.
Your course and training will be mostly financed by the volunteer work, that you do at the school centre.
6 months of intensive training and volunteer work at our School Centre
6 months at a project in Malawi or Mozambique
2 months Camp Future - follow up and information work in Europe.
The programme is organised so that you stick together in groups of 3.
You can start your training when a full trio is ready to start.
Programmes will start 1st of February, 1st of May and 1st of August
The training consists of half time studies and half time volunteer work and practical training in organisation, arranging cultural events, teaching students with many different difficulties, organising practical tasks or actions etc.

Your volunteer work and training will take place
within the framework of Boserup School Centre The School Centre in Boserup
comprises of 2 schools and 3 Care Homes.
Roskilde Friskole is a day school for children from Pre School to 8th grade.
The International Continuation School in Boserup is a school for students in 8th to 11th grade. Some of the students are boarding students; most of them are day students.
The 3 Care Homes for children with special needs accommodate together 25 children and young people. All together 90 children and young people, who, for many different reasons, have a need for a school which can manage their special needs and interests.
Some of the kids are here to get more challenges in the school programme. Some come with the hope that the individual teaching can improve their knowledge. Some have learning problems, some have so many problems at home that they are unable to concentrate on learning. Others have a need for help to make social relations with other kids or with grown ups.
All of them need challenges and a feeling of success, to help them believe that they can change their situation.
In this environment, there is a great need for people with personal surplus, who can help create a good environment. This is one of the main tasks for you, while you are training to be Development Instructor.
The social and practical work you will be doing at the school, will take up half of your 6 months training.
Some of you will work in the evenings and weekends, and do your studies in the mornings; others will work in the daytime, and do your studies in the afternoons and evenings. Once a week, there will be a day for courses and group meetings, where all the Development Instructors will be together.

Here are some examples of what your work could include:
An extra teacher in a class with students who needs extra help
Teaching English or German to a class
Have a special programme with a student who needs to be away from the class for a time
Having the weekend programme with the children who are at the school for the weekend
Having the spare time activities with the boarding students
Having night watch at one of the Care Homes
Doing maintenance
Taking care of the outdoor areas
Cleaning tasks
No specific qualifications are required The programme is open to anyone who has passed 17 years of age and who is willing and prepared to take up the challenge. But it is a must that you are open minded and flexible- and that you want to work with children and young people from many different backgrounds.
