TRADE UNION CALLS FOR BOYCOTT OF HUMANA BINS

The Danish trade union SiD is about to initiate a boycott of the clothes collection bins of UFF (Humana) in Denmark. The initiative follows an investigation the union carried out on banana plantations in Latin America belonging to Tvind, the cult-like organisation behind Humana. SiD, which for years has been supporting Tvind, now has concluded that Tvind is exploiting the workers on the plantations.

'We know, where Tvind's containers for UFF-clothes collecting are standing, and we are prepared, to initiate a boycott of the clothes collecting and to use our municipal influence, so that politicians will ban the UFF-clothing bins from the street', says SiD's vice-president Steen  Andersen. The union visited Belize and Ecuador and saw children being exploited on the plantations where insecticides were sprinkled when at the same time workers were actually on the land.

Tvind-spokesman Poul Jrgensen says he has a big responsibility doing so, because Tvind is using the money from the clothes collecting to fight aids in Africa.

UFF SWEDEN APPLIES FOR BANKRUPTCY

UFF (Humana) in Stockholm this week applied for bankruptcy. What will happen with the shops, employees and clothes collection bins, is yet unclear. The foundation did not succeed in paying its debts - to the tax office nor other creditors, says UFF-spokesman Orjan Hgerth.

UFF already sold its shop in Stockholm, but at the sam time hightened its debts to the tax office with 1,6 million kroners and tens of millions kroners to other creditors.

TVIND SELLS ITS LUXURY YACHT, THE 'BUTTERFLY McQUEEN'

The Teachers Group, apparently in dire need of ready money, has put up for sale its luxury yacht the Butterfly McQueen, according to Danish TV2.    According to the news report the vessel is for sale in the habour in Auckland, New Zealand.     The TG pays 165.000 kroner a month  in rent to keep the ship in the harbour.    The Butterfly McQueen is one of the worlds finest yachts and worth 50 million kroner, but the TG will now sell it for 23 million kroner.

Tvind has already sold the two luxury flats in Miami that had been bought for Amdi Petersen and Kirsten Larsen.

TV-PROGRAM PROVIDES LOOK INTO TVIND-SCHOOLS

Danish television this week broadcast an half-an-hour look into the world of Tvind at the schools in Ulfborg, Denmark. The program, (a weekly focusing on a specific subject), did a good job of fulfilling its aim: to present a view into the world of Tvind seen from Tvind's own perspective.

It was hard not to agree with many of the fundamental basics for the whole educational theory; (learning by doing). All the ideals of the (school) organisation was presented quite convincingly by headmaster Lisbeth Krohn.

The interviewers did not ask critical questions about the high fees the students have to pay and the usually bad accommodation they have to deal with in the schools.

E-MAIL LINKS AMDI DIRECTLY TO HUMANA

The prosecution in the court case against Tvind-founder Amdi Petersen has brought in new evidence which should help to prove that Amdi Petersen was in charge of Tvind's Humanitarian Foundation and thereby responsible for the multi million fraud with it.

The evidence is an e-mail from Amdi Petersen, which connects him directly to Humana and the court case in Belgium, according to the Danish press.  In this e-mail Amdi Petersen orders eight members of the Teachers Group to produce documents to make sure only one of them -Else Jensen- can get punished for money laundering. The case in Belgium is about laundering five million euros.    One of the suspects is Flemming Gustaffson, manager of the Tvind-company ConMore BV in Holland, which buys clothes Humana collects in Europe.

Petersen says he is only an advisor.

Messages/questions from readers

SLOVENIA

A reader writes us that Tvind has started collecting clothes in Slovenia  -   but has problems getting clothes collection bins placed in the city centre of Ljubljana. Apparently the mayor of the Slovenian capital had some knowledge about Tvind and didn't want the organisation to start collecting clothes in his city.  But the activities in Slovenia show that Tvind now not only sells second hand clothes in Eastern Europe, but also started to collect clothes there under the cover up of being a charity.
