AMDI WILL BE QUESTIONED IN JANUARY
Berlingske Tidende, December 3rd 2002
Tvind-founder Mogens Amdi Petersen has agreed to prolong his imprisonment
up to December 19th. After Petersen for the first time was the subject of a
hearing, the need of more hearings grew, says prosecutor Poul Gade. This
means Amdi Petersen most probably will still be in jail with christmas. Up
till recent his lawyer, Boelskifte, expected Amdi to be set on bail before the
end of the year. The prosecution wants to hear Amdi again January next year.

UFF SWEDEN: PROFIT CLOTHES COLLECTION GOES TO TAX HAVEN
The clothes that the Swedish people have donated to UFF (Humana) are sold in
Eastern Europe by companies based in tax havens. In that way the Teachers Group,
the sectlike core of the organization, unfairly appropriates of the means that
could have gone to aid, reports Swedish newspaper Dagens Nyheter. At the same
time UFF struggles with debts amounting to 17 millions SEK and is on the verge
of bankruptcy.
In the mean time the struggle for power within Swedish UFF gets tougher. The
employees' attempt to make the organization more democratic failed. The Teachers
Group has now thrown out the employee representative from the board of
directors. Sales manager Dan Wallin quitted UFF due to the mismanagement of the
finances.

COURT CASE IN BELGIUM POSTPONED
The court case in Belgium against eight members of the Teachers Group on account
of money laundering has been postponed. Prosecutor D. Merkcx from the court in
Brussels expects the case - which was due to begin December 19th - not to start
before March or April next year. According to the prosecutor there is a need for
additional investigation.
The eight members of the Teachers Group, from which one, Flemming Gustaffson, is
a key person in the Tvind-clothes recycling-company ConMore in Holland, are
being suspected of money laundering up to five million Euros in the years
1994-1995.
Lawyer R. Nieuwpoort, who defends the eight members of the Teachers Group, says
that he can't find any proof in the dossier for money laundering. 'The fact that
the case will be postponed shows that the prosecutor thinks he has no proof to
support his case.'

CANADA
Hello. Humana has been recruiting here in Montreal, Canada. Their ad has
been in a local newspaper (The Hour) for several months despite my phone calls
and e-mails. How can the public be warned? sincerely, Natalie Willett
